Everybody would like to get a massage but not everybody feels comfortable giving them to someone else. The possibility of causing hurt to the other person is a very real concern. In addition, it?s possible to feel scared that the massage might not be good enough. We are scared that the person getting the massage won?t like what we?re doing. You will be happy to learn that anybody can learn how to give a terrific massage each time they want to do just that. Here is how you can give a terrific back massage whenever you want to.
It is vitally important that the person be at ease while he is lying down. Firm and soft are the goal when it comes to the surface on which they lie down. If you don?t don?t have a massage table, you could try them on the bed. If they are on your floor, place a mat or a couple of soft blankets or towels so that they will feel more relaxed. If the person would like to keep his or her shirt on, see to it that it is of a soft material so there will be less friction and itching.
Begin with a couple of simple rubs. Using the enture flat side of your hands, gradually rub up from the lower back toward the neck. Put some pressure into this rub but dont start with the full on massage yet. Start at the base of the back and then move your hands in an upward motion, along both sides of the backbone toward the neck then move across the shoulders and work your way back down the back. Work on making the loops smaller as you do this step a few more times so that the whole back can get relaxed.
Try to use the heels of your hands to generate good and pointed pressure. Work the heels of your palms in small circles starting out in the middle of the base of the back and then working out toward the sides and then upwards and back in until you?ve covered all areas of the back.
Sit at the side of the person receiving the massage. Then, set one hand on top of the other and thrust into the back a little bit with your fingers. Start at the spinal column and push steadily and with firm pressure across the back away from the spine and then lightly sort of move your hands back across the back toward the spinal column and move upwards. Repeat the process as you work your way up the back and then repeat on the other side.
Massage the spinal column. Start at the base of the spinal column and work up each of the sausage-y muscles on each side of the spine with your fingers or your thumbs. Rub each little node at least five times to create some friction before moving on to the next. Work your way all the way up one side of the spinal column and then do the same on the other side of the spine.
Something that you have to remember as you use each of these techniques is that it is a good idea to re-relax the person between each part of the massage that you give. This means that after you have used the heels of your hands for specific applied pressure, you should go back to the rub you used at the beginning for a few minutes.
Some particular areas give a massage certification (like this a single here massage certification ) and using a certification you will be a great deal more at ease providing massages!
